AERIAL HOOP - BEGINNERS

This workshop introduces the strength and flexibility needed for aerial hoop. With some gorgeous moves and a simple combination, this workshop is designed to warm you up,
teach you the basics and help you find your love of flying.

We demand a lot from our bodies. When we do not pause to take care of ourselves, injuries can happen.
Kathleen will guide you through stretching and movement techniques designed to realign and promote bloodflow to the most common areas of damage caused by overtraining. This calming flexibility class works on finding release through your shoulders and hips finding addidional length in your spine and
With soothing stretches, massage and partner-work, you will come away feeling ready to train and with the necessary tools to keep your body going for longer.
AERIAL HOOP - INTERMEDIATE

Learn repetoire from Kathleen's various aerial hoop acts. Her signature style of aerial takes its influence from her love of spinning. Included is more advanced core and shoulder strength training, some injury prevention, splits and more gorgeous splits.

With a uniquely calming, yet intense approach, Kathleen delivers the skills required to protect your joints and prepare your muscles for splits; one of the most sought after physical traits in the dance and fitness world.
The workshop brings you on a progressive journey, from warm-up and stability exercises to partner work which brings steady motivation and support, making use of breathing techniques to find calm.
Lastly, the essence of the class; increasing range in both the middle and front split.

Kathleen Doherty has toured and performed extensively as a dancer and aerialist with companies such as Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Company and Dance Theatre of Ireland amongst others. Major events include the Hong Kong International Chinese New Year Parade, The Guinness Storehouse 15 year Anniversary, The Opening of Roskilde Music Festival, The Opening Ceremony of the Ryder Cup, the opening to the Seoul International Dance Festival and the Mineapolis International Childrens Festival.
Her choreographies has been performed across Europe and America including Las Vegas, Nashville, London and Bulgaria.
As resident choreographer for the Irish Pole Dance Academy, her creations on Arlene Caffrey helped her win the title of Irish Pole Dance Champion in 2014 for the 4th time.
As a teacher she specialises in dance, aerial hoop and flexibilty training. She has taught extensively, including Dansens Hus Copenhagen, En Knapp Slovenia, and Dance House in Dublin.
