This workshop is aimed at anybody wanting to learn more about basic rigging. Mainly we will look at aspects of aerial rigging although a lot of the stuff we will cover applies to other areas as well.
This workshop is taught by Michaela Heyer who is a qualified Rope Access Technician (IRATA Level 1). She has a has a wealth of experience in aerial rigging and has also been working for a UK rigging company (general entertainment rigging including TV
stunts, zip lines and large festivals) for the past 2 1/2 years.
We will be looking at:
- Different types of connectors (carabiners, maillons, shackles etc) and correct usage
- Different types of slings and correct usage
- Basic knots
- Safety factors and basic load calculations
- Equipment check
- Working at height
Even though a lot of the stuff is theory I'll try my best to make it as practical as possible. You'll get a chance to practice your knots, do some of you own load calculations etc
